Inspiration

Perhaps it's because I finally finished the Summer Lake Shawl. Or maybe, despite the heat and humidity, I'm beginning to feel that fall is impatiently waiting to arrive. The summer-sales are long over and sweaters and coats are on display in the stores.

My knitting vacation seems to be over. I suddenly want to knit something cozy and warm. And different and new.

Last week, I received the following two cards. One is a prayer card for a dear, deceased aunt. The other is a postcard from the Great Smoky Mountains from vacationing Sonja.

I threw both on my coffee table and couldn't help but be struck by the colors. Turquoise and red----blueish-green and red. I can't get these colors out of my mind. That red--oh that red haunts me. And putting it with a blue-green and/or turquoise. Will it work?

Keep tuned. Later today I'll be going through the stash to find these colors. And to see what warm, cozy thing they want to be.

Can it Be?!

Can that possibly be the Summer Lake Shawl without any knitting needles in it?

Yes, it is. It only took me six weeks to knit the final six inches. But, no matter--it's done.

Or is it?

Blocking and end-weaving still wait.

Taking a Vacation

No, I'm not back in the mountains
or
at the beach.

Though I wish I were.

But I am having fun. Getting together with friends, reading, taking walks, playing mah jongg, doing Pilates, going to movies.

What's missing?
Knitting.

I've been thinking about knitting. Bought the fall Interweave Knits. Even did a Sundara sock yarn trade.

But actual knitting--nope.
And it's OK!

I know I'll be back. My fingers are getting itchy.

Birthday--Part 2

Today was perfect!

Hubster and I took a walk in Central Park where we saw

a lake

ducks

an artist

and a couple posing for wedding photos.

We ate lunch.

No, not here!

Here.

I have a thing about eating outdoors (or semi-outdoors) on my birthday. The restaurant must be airy and light and have a beautiful view. I did OK with this for this birthday!

And finally, at home, there were

roses

and birthday cakes!

Thank you, everybody, for your warm birthday greetings! You all helped make this such a wonderful day.

Pre-birthday

Today's birthday festivities began yesterday with

A Broadway show AND a Yankee game!

I keep humming the music from that wonderful show. It was a lot of fun!

The Yankees gave me the best birthday gift ever! They not only beat the Boston Red Sox--it was a four-game sweep!

And the hubster arranged this terrific birthday surprise!

I can't wait to see what today brings!

Meanwhile I wish my Birthday Twin a happy one!

Chugging Along

Haven't reached the destination yet.
