Erin go Knittin' Scarf

Thanks, everybody, for your scarf suggestions. They were all great and I'll be keeping them in mind for future projects.

However, I ended up flipping through my binder of patterns and found one that suited the look and speed I wanted.

Since I'm on a deadline for March 17th, I've been knitting every free moment I have. Usually I do chores and take breaks for knitting. Now I'm knitting and taking a break for chores.

Chores? Who am I kidding? Chores are on the back burner this week.

At some point, way back when, I joined a Sundara's sock club or two. I just love the yarn and like getting these surprise packages every few months.

Look at the luscious stuff that came today:



Here's the funny thing. Twenty minutes before this yarn was delivered, I was telling the hubster that I wish I had some kelly green yarn in my stash. I'll be marching this March 17 up 5th Avenue and have nothing to declare my Irishness. ***

Since I'll be marching with a serious group of folks, we've been instructed to dress "tastefully." What wouldn't be more tasteful and tasty than a handmade kelly green scarf?

Look at the yarn on the right--it's labelled "sour apples." But I think it's my "Erin go Knittin'" yarn!

That's 350 yards. Enough for a scarf. I need an easy peasy pattern. Mistake rib perhaps? Something I can finish in eight days. I need some suggestions FAST!

***OK, my long-time readers may remember a pair of green socks I made a few years ago. But, they're not kelly green. To march in the Parade one needs to flaunt some kelly green. And, no, I don't want to knit socks. I'm a slooooow knitter--I'd need more that 8 days to make even one sock!

Surprise!

What seems like an eternity ago, I signed up for a couple of Sundara sock collections.

And then forgot about them.

8:45 this morning, the doorbell rings. The mailman with a package.

Surprise!



This seems to be Sundara's Surprise--the artist's choice mixed palette. As Sundara says of artist's choice, "Colors within these color families will be developed by Sundara and in the spirit of creativity, surprise and spontaneity, subscribers will not chose specific colors."


And to make it even more surprising, I chose the "all colors possible" mixed palette.

The colors are from the top:
the breezy, sunny South Pacific, the mysterious, sultry Fragrant Night and the yummy Chocolate Raspberry.

What's even more surprising is that I bought two skeins of each. That totals 700 yards of each color.

What was I thinking? Shawls? Huge socks?

I love, love, love this yarn! But I see a yarn diet in the near future. Well, after I receive my second mailing from Sundara. (I checked my email and saw I signed up for another collection.) And in a day or so, I'll be receiving a most gorgeous surprise from Briar Rose Fibers.
