What is there not to love about this orange Lacy Baktus Scarf?

I love how on this cold windy day I can snuggle it around my neck and hide a few chins in it, too!

(These are unblocked dimensions.)

The Physics of Knitting

The Lacy Baktus is knit as a triangle. The first half increases and the second half is all about decreasing.

I mentioned to a knitter friend that the knitting would be faster since I was on the decrease side. She screwed up her face and told me that this didn't make a bit of sense. Because the sides are mirror images, it would take the same amount of time to knit both.

OH? I guess this is logical and true--but it feels faster. There must be a formula out there to prove my theory.
Acceleration = 1/2 x 2 -number of output of stitches + eastern standard time x color of wool

Meanwhile, do you see what I see? Take another look.

One of the skeins appears to be not like the others. The color is more solid. It's probably that skein that was hiding in the back of the bin. I realize this should bother me--but it doesn't. I hadn't even noticed it until I took the picture of the baktus in a friend's very sunny apartment.

Work + energy = density + time x temperature outside - frogging it

Hermit Crab Scarf

Poor Lacy Baktus! I keep giving it nicknames. For a while, it was the Traffic Cone Scarf. And, for an evening, it was the Derek Jeter Scarf.

But it's now the Hermit Crab Scarf since it outgrew the bag I was keeping it in.

Not to worry, though. It found a new bag to snuggle into.

Both bags were made by the multi-talented Sonja!

Have You Noticed?

Have you noticed that I've posted every day this month so far? Yep, I joined NaBloPoMo.

Impulsively.

Last year, I thought about blogging every day in November. I wrote down the pros and cons. Noted some ideas for blog entries. Thought some more and then some more again. I decided against it.

This month, all it took was reading on somebody's blog that it was NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month) and I was off and running.

So I’ll be posting about knitting, NYC, books. And when there’s nothing to post–there’s always my cat!

Uh oh, I'm in trouble. It's only Day 6 and I'm already posting a cat photo. This is going to be a very long month!

Why the Yankees Won

Some people say that the Yankees won the World Series because of their pitching, batting, fielding.

BUT I know the real reason why. The Lacy Baktus draped on the TV when Derek was at bat did it.

Twins?

The Lacy Baktus Scarf is supposed to remind me of pumpkins or fall flowers.

But all it reminds me of is

these!
