These cooler temperatures have put me in the mood to clean out some clutter. And a good place to begin is the pile of knitting magazines.
I started this project a couple of years ago. At that time, I thought I would fall into the good habit of immediately ripping and filing the patterns I liked as soon as I finished the magazine. But. . . we know how that goes.
Tonight, as I looked at the patterns, I kept my computer open to the "patterns" tab in Ravelry. How the finished product looked on real people and the knitters' comments helped me to decide if a pattern was a keeper or not.
I went from nearly three inches of magazines to one inch of patterns.
But look how much more I still have to go through!

I really like your idea of looking through Ravelry to see what works or not. You've inspired me to organize my patterns, as well, and I'm ashamed to admit, I've saved some magazines for a single pattern. That doesn't make sense, does it?
It is 95 degrees here today. Mid-September and absolutely no let up with this insane heat. I don't have to think about fall cleaning if it isn't even FALL, right?
I'll just sit in front of the a/c and applaud your hard work.
I have boxes of pattern magazines. Don't know why I keep them. Congrats on getting through so many of them.
What an ingenious way to go through your stash of mags and patterns. I think I will have to adopt this idea.
BTW I was guided to your blog page by an employee of your husbands, Eric (he and I are from the same town and graduated HS together)
