E is for

Embroidered tablecloths.

I have two embroidered tablecloths. I've used this sweet one for girly luncheons.

The other is quite dramatic and draped the New Year's Eve buffet table.

Both are beauties and I'm always amazed by the handwork that went into them.

As much as I admire embroidery, it's something I have no interest in doing myself. However, check out the multi-talented Sonja's embroidery project.

I have a quite a collection of old embroidered linens. (Even did much embroidery myself when daughters were little.) My intention when I started gathering them was to piece together the good parts into a new "fabric " for fun, funky jackets or vests. Well, they are still in the box. Now I'm thinking maybe pillow covers. Love the photos.

Oooh, love these! I have a couple from my great aunts, who taught me how to embroider. However, I also have no interest in stitching these days...

I too love embroidery but am just too chicken to try it out. The details of these two in the photos are beautiful.

They are just beautiful! Are they family pieces?

Well, of course, I LOVE these, especially the deep red flowers on that second one. I've never done anything as large and ambitious as a tablecloth.

Mary,
You are a woman of many talents. Perfectly lovely handwork and so reminiscent of a gentler, slower world. Simply beautiful.

Love the blue ribbons! The formal cloth is very pretty, too. I love to do embroidery, but I am not very adventursome with my stitches...
