All week, I've been doing spring cleaning. Uh. . . no, that's not something that happens yearly at Chez Snit n'Knit. It's spring 1987 spring cleaning that I'm just getting around to.
Weeding the scarves was one thing on the "to do" list. I love how some women effortlessly and elegantly wear a scarf. I'm not one of them.
So, with that in mind, I was ruthless about purging the scarves. However, one made me pause.
This is a scarf (probably rayon) that I found among my Dad's things when we cleaned out my folks' house. My Pop was certainly not an ascot and smoking-jacket wearer and so I doubt he ever wore this scarf. My guess it was a gift from long ago--1940s or '50s.
It's hard to tell from the photo, but the colors in the scarf are picked up in the Jackie sweater. There's also something retro-looking about both. I think I'm going to have to learn how to wear this scarf!

That scarf is gorgeous--you've got to keep it. You CAN become a scarf person. Use the Web to figure out how to tie it if you need to--but keep it!
I second that. Keep the scarf! I love retro fabrics. (Along with retro songs.) When you figure out how to wear one, let me know. Think I missed that lesson way back.
The scarf and the sweater go lovely together. You will have such a wonderful experience wearing something that brings you thoughts of your dad.
Kismet, I'd say. Looking forward to seeing the finished combination. (And that site is a find; I'll be bookmarking it for the rare days I get inspired to tie one on, myself.)
It's a gorgeous scarf! I'm looking forward to seeing how you'll wear it.
You will look so elegant!
I love the pattern in that scarf and it will be just the think at your neck. Everyone above has already said it better: Keep and Enjoy!
oops. Will be just THING at your neck!
That will look great with that sweater. :)
That scarf is lovely and made more special since it was your dad's. :)
You'll look awesome in it :)
