Missing Them

How much do I miss having my cat models to take photos of with my new camera?

Miss 'em a lot. Sigh. . . .

Another Good-bye

I'm very sad to report that we had to put our Kippy cat to sleep today. She had chronic renal failure and for the past ten days, she'd been getting weaker and weaker.

She had a good, long life--18 years-- with lots of love given and received. Last year, I wrote an entry about Kip's specialness.

Kip, sweet girl, I know you're now in a place full of comfy pillows

and pink tissue.

And that you're playing with toys

and sitting on knitting.

There's plenty of sun on your face now.

And Barney has found you.

Have You Noticed?

Have you noticed that I've posted every day this month so far? Yep, I joined NaBloPoMo.

Impulsively.

Last year, I thought about blogging every day in November. I wrote down the pros and cons. Noted some ideas for blog entries. Thought some more and then some more again. I decided against it.

This month, all it took was reading on somebody's blog that it was NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month) and I was off and running.

So I’ll be posting about knitting, NYC, books. And when there’s nothing to post–there’s always my cat!

Uh oh, I'm in trouble. It's only Day 6 and I'm already posting a cat photo. This is going to be a very long month!

Why I'm Not Knitting

Kippy says, "This is a nice nest to cozy into. . .

and don't even think about telling me to move."

Finished on Friday

The Kippy Blankie was finished shortly after midnight

Specifics:
Yarn: Plymouth Encore / 2 skeins
Crochet Hook: H
Stitches: Whatever! single, double, half-double, triple crochet; crossed stitch; spike stitch; a few "design element" stitches

This blankie was just what I needed to make. When I gave Kippy the blankie, I told her that this was a gift from Barney and that happy memories of him were crocheted into it. She murmured a little meow and then nuzzled my hand.

She then gave it her Cat Seal of Approval

How cute is this little paw?!

Why Crochet?

This is why:

Our other cat, Kippy, needs some extra lovin' these days. She's missing Barney as much as we are. And I needed something different to do. Didn't want to knit the sadness I was feeling into the Clapotis I've been working on.

I used to crochet years and years ago. And figured this would be a good time to practice the stitches.

This cat blankie isn't going to be best looking thing I've ever made. It's a combination of all kinds of crochet stitches. There's no pattern in mind. And I think I'm even making up some stitches.

But Kippy doesn't care. She just wants to snuggle into it.
